Basic Accounting software? I want to record just my cash book entries and expenses in their respective accounts so as to see expense for each account or no of accounts at the end of month. no record for receive able or payable is required. which is the easiest software for that purpose?
Accounting software for student organizations? I am looking for a very basic software program or Excel spreadsheet template to handle the budget and accounting for a student organization. We need to keep track of about 15 events held throughout the year. Ideally, the software would allow us to keep track of our budget and itemized expenditures for each of these events in a variety of categories including food, office supplies, travel expenses, hotel expenses, etc. We also need to keep track of any revenue that comes in (only a few thousand dollars). Any thoughts on an inexpensive or free software solution?

Can I have the same accountiing software (Tas Basic) on my system twice? Hi, I operate 2 small businesses from home that. I keep them both separate so the accounts are kept separate. Can I download the same accounting package twice on to my system instead of downloading a multi-company package that is more expensive. The software package that I have downloaded is free and is very basic but suits my needs. Will it cause problems on my pc if it's there twice?

Why can't I download Tas Basic Twice? Hi, I've attempted to download Tas Basic accounting software on to my pc twice but the second one won't download. I've applied twice and received 2 different serial numbers and reference numbers. My intention was to use one each for 2 small businesses I run from home. Can anyone enlighten me as to why the second one won't download? I have received the driver and when I ran it it seemed ok. My pc then has to restart but there are no instructions once it reboots. I downloaded the first one perfectly and after rebooting the new software immediately began running. Any help is appreciated? thanks in advance to any answers.
How do open source software and "free" websites make any money? From what I understand, most of the money comes from advertising stuff on the webpage or from offering only the basic software free of cost, while asking users to upgrade their account to fully utilise the software. Is their any other way to make money out of open sourceware? How do sites like facebook and orkut and most of the other sites which are extremely popular, but free, make money?
What accounting software would suit me best? I have a business which has been running for 3 years. Over the years I have relied on excel spreadsheets. My business has grown and I feel I need a little more reliability than spreadsheets. I need the software to be able to do basic book keeping but also have an invoice software to enable me to easily print invoices using templates and perhaps remind me when 30 days have passed so I can issue reminders. I have used Sage which I hated. Other people mention Quickbooks but I don't know if that has the invoice option I require. I may also employ staff in the not too distant future.

Problem in Visual Basic 2008 ? Hy I am using Visual Basic 2008 I am building an accounting software. My first form has five text boxes, one is for date, one is for voucher number, another is for particulars, and other two is for debit and credit. How can I reset my password on my Mac Book if I forgot it? Ok some information first, the password I forgot is the only computer admistratrator password. The only way I currently have access to this computer is by the basic account. I have the Mac Software CD, but for some reason when I try to reset the password through the instillation it asks me for a administer's password which I don't have. Is there a way around this?
How to ensure data is secure once it leaves the company network and heads to a 3rd party? My company is shifting their data security emphasis to monitor 3rd parties. For example: we're constantly sending data to a firm that processes our finances and performs basic accounting/reporting. How do we ensure these 3rd parties aren't mishandling our data? How do we know if Joe Shmoe isn't copying our files, losing/replicating our tapes, or distributing our sensitive information? I'm looking for technologies, software, questionnaires, or some methodology that provides a meaningful assessment or metric that indicates how secure our data is once it leaves our network. Duce's response is more inline with what I'm looking for. We've already established contracts with these 3rd parties that prevent them from mishandling our data, but nothing is full-proof. Our business wouldn't exist if our data was in the wrong hands, so we're not satisfied with just a legal contract that says "we'll sue you if you f-up". We've got the encryption down, we have reliable means of sending data, but nothing that helps us assess a 3rd party's handling of our data. Any tracking mechanisms? Software-related quality assurance, maybe? Tools that provide metrics that give an indication as to how responsible/reliable another company's infrastructure is?
Another Accounting Question!!!!? Your father-in-law has asked you to help him with some basic accounting duties dealing with a local irrigation company of which he is president. The company has issued shares of stock allowing shareholders the right to use a specified amount of water every week from a water canal that passes through town. Your main duties would consist of billing and collecting yearly dues from the shareholders and maintaining the books with a canned software system. There are less than 60 shareholders in the company. Should you write off receivables from customers when it is determined they will not pay, or should you estimate the percentage of receivables that will be uncollectible and establish an allowance? Where can I find free or cheap stock ticker software for mac? I know this has been asked a few times, but I still can't find an answer. I just need a basic stock ticker app that I can slap on my desktop during the day, but it needs to work for mac. I have an E*TRADE account but I don't think they offer, however please correct my if they do. Best Software for Start Ups? Hi! I am in the last phase of writing my business plan for a start up company and need to know which is the current best software? My payroll will be outsourced to ADP. My employees will be more than 10- less than 30. My business needs are: basic accounting Accounts Receivable/Payable and I will need a database capable of handling LARGE amounts of personal info. Basically, I am needing to store intern applications plus essays for long term whcih will be downloaded from a website submission form. What's a good, not-too-expensive financial software for managing Church financial stuffs? I'm looking for a commercial desktop financial software in a box that can be commonly found enywhere. Is Quickbook good? If it is, then what version is sufficient (Basic or more advanced ones)? How about Quicken? Or PeachTree? Basically a church only needs account payable; account receivable (from offerring); keeping customers (who are church members), printing check for payroll, etc; trial balance; general ledger; and printing various reports; etc. Would you also give the approximate price? Anyone try the Intuit Quickbooks Simple Start Free 2009? I found this software on Intel Business Exchange: http://sx.intel.com/p-725-intuit-quickbooks-simple-start-free-edition-2009.aspx. However, I'm wondering how it compares to some of the other popular accounting software. I need something very basic and easy to use as accounting/bookkeeping is not my thing.

I need help from a CPA or someone knowledgeable in these...? First off, I'm a programmer working on an Accounting software project right now. I'm doing this for my personal use so I don't have an Accountant to ask. I thought I understand a little in Bookkeeping but am still confused, please help me on this. 1. If you will issue a Petty Cash Voucher, what/which [Chart of] Accounts are affected? 2. If you will bill the customer a Sales/Service Invoice or a Delivery Reciept, and you agreed on a 30-day payment term, again, what/which [Chart of] Accounts are affected? What about if there's no payment terms? What if the customer just issued a Check, Is it as good as cash? Or should it be on a separate account? As you may see, I came up with all these basic accounting terms because I thought I had an idea about it. I'm just really confused right now. There are more questions, but for now, I'd like to clear these ones on my head. I'm looking for an answer that will guide me on which accounts will be on the Debit side and which ones will be on the Credit side. Thanks in advance!
Bookkeeping for online subscription income? My boyfriend is starting an online business wherby users pay a fee to become a member. This payment will be made online via credit card or paypal and the fee can be paid monthly or one annual payment. Income will also come in the form of commission. I have some basic accounts experience in the traditional sense. ie sell goods, raise invoice and receive payment 30 days later but I am a little unsure as to how I should go about accounting for these online payments. Do I need sales ledgers for all of the customer as there could potentially be thousands? Or do I just treat them as cash ie credit sales, debit bank? It may be neccessary to pay refunds also. For the annual fee, should I account for this on an accruals basis? Also, does anyone know of any accounting software that would be suitable for this kind of business? What's the best software for opening a bookkeeping business? I am in the process of starting a bookkeeping business and am having trouble deciding what I want to do about software. The companies that I'll be doing the bookkeeping for will be rather small, and won't have much need for anything more than a basic bookkeeping software with maybe the capability to do payroll. Some of these small businesses will have attempted to do the bookkeeping on their own but have for some reason decided to outsource. Since they may have tried to do the bookkeeping, they may have purchased software to use such as Quickbooks, Peachtree, Quicken, etc. There's no way for me to predict what software they will have and I'm trying not to buy each version just so that I can transfer files. I would much rather use Quickbooks for all of my clients. Now, I don't need Quickbooks' Accountant software because my clients will not also be using the software, only I will. If I buy one of the basic versions of Quickbooks like I mentioned before, can I just have it set up to where I'll have numerous company files. I'd create a new company each time I take on a new client and input the bookkeeping information they may have from before manually. I know you can create more than one company file in Quickbooks, but I don't know if there's a limit on how many you can create. So can I actually have those numerous company files, plus my own for keeping the books of my business, in that one program? If so, does anyone know how many companies you can create a file for in Quickbooks (or Peachtree, Quicken, etc.) without having to purchase a license for multiple users. And if not, does anyone have suggestions on what I can do. I have a degree in Accounting and about 6 years of experience doing bookkeeping (4 years in Quickbooks) so I do know what I'm doing but with each previous employer, they only had their one company file created and I never looked to see how many companies you could actually create. What is a good, simple point of sale software? I'm starting up a small business; I will be making sales over the phone of a single product. And, I need a very basic point of sale system. Essentially I need the program to do a few things: Process credit cards, take down customer information (i.e. name, billing/shipping address), account for taxes, and print invoices (maybe also print labels). What laptop would be best? I'm looking for something powerful but not too expensive. Any input appreiciated? I currently have a toshiba satellite with a core 2 duo T5500 with 2gb of ram and 200gb hdd... This still runs as good as when I got it, but I am looking for something better. I am a full time student with basic software, run a business with accounting and estimating software, and do a little online gaming, but nothing serious. I don't need a hard core gaming laptop, but I have a lot of music and will be getting into creating and editing it as well I am beginning to work a lot with photoshop and other graphic design. Agan, nothing serious, but i would like to have a powerful laptop that could handle all of that with no problems. I am partial to Toshiba, just because I have had 2 of them in the past and never had any problems at all, but I am open to the best for my money. So, what computer do you recommend? or what specs should I look for in one? I would love to keep it under 2000 if possible, but definitely no higher than 4000. A large hdd is important, but not a priority since I have a few external ones for music, etc......thanks!

Can I add an icon to my desktop to connect to basic mail? Hi, had a dialup account with bt before I switched to broadband elsewhere and got a new pc. Just reinstalled the software with a new disc so I can access basic mail. However the set up process seemed to fail at the point where it adds the icon and does something else, I can't remember what, it just didn't do it properly. I'd appreciate it if anyone can make sense of this and tell me how to do it! Yahoo Mail buttons don't work on iPaq Pocket PC (compose, etc.). Any ideas? I use an iPAQ hx2790 running Microsoft Pocket PC. I can log into my Yahoo mail (basic account) and read messages, but I cannot compose, save as draft, etc. The buttons appear, but they do not work at all. This question appeared here in the forum, but the answer didn't seem applicable (reinstall Yahoo mail), because I do not have any "Yahoo mail" to install or uninstall, because I just use the Yahoo web mail, basic free email, using the Internet Explorer on my iPAQ with no other software application. Does anybody have any ideas for making Yahoo mail work on my iPaq? Thanks in advance.

How to file tax return for partnership/LLC? We (3 of us lives in different states) started a new partnership/LLC company in Maryland in 2006 (one of us lives in Maryland). Question about Dazzle Capture Cards? I want to sell my Dazzle Platinum Capture Card, and I am wondering, is it sellable? By this I mean if I sell it will another person be able to install it and register to use the software and hardware, or do the disks only install once? recording a loan from company to director on MYOB? i have a small company and i am not sure how to record the transaction on MYOB Business basics software. i have borrowed a loan from my company and by law i have to show it is a loan to the director.for my bank account to balance with the MYOB account i have to record the loan. where do i create the transaction? do i debit assets and credit liability or vise versa? to say the truth i have no idea how to go about it.
How can I set up in Vista, different user accounts that have different startup programs? Basically I want to do all my basic stuff (internet, word) in one user account. And in another user account I would have all my music production programs. In this one I would like to be able to switch off all unnecessary programs like windows defender, anti-virus software, network card... basically down to bare-bones so all the power is reserved for music making. How can I do this? Msconfig seems to do it for all users. Thanks!
Is there any way to register my Quickbooks Basic 2004? I have the software for Quickbooks Basic 2004 and have run out of my 15 trials and now must register it. I was then instructed to call Intuit to get a registration number to be able to use it anymore. I did this but was informed they don't support this version any longer. I would have to buy the 2008 version for $200 to be able to use the accounts I now have stored in the program. I really don't want to buy a new program when this was working just fine for me, since I don't accept credit cards or have a payroll. Any suggestions on how to get past this (without obviously paying for a current version).
I need a software, which one? I have a small gardening business. I've had it for about 6 years already. However, all this years I've done it all by hand, pencil and paper (non-computer-base) I have about 400 costumers, and I have to do every single invoice by hand every month. So I thought of buying a computer, which I already did, and now I need a software that will allow me to organize all my costumers invoices, their due dates, and to be able to search them up by either an account numbrer or their last names. I don't wanna spend thousands of dollars, but any software that will do the basics I just described. Are there any that you recommend? I would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am a electrical contractor, and i am looking for a software that does the following.. -for each individual job shows how much money i made or loss -off course it shows how much money i made so far through out the year -it keep track of my expenses so i can throw out all those receipts from materials... -it shows me how much tax i owe so far ...(best if it shows per job) and basics. write check.. makes payroll.. right now i have microsoft office accounting 2009.. i dont know if this software meets this criteria.. can anybody throw some names out there.. also i am looking for the most inexpensive software , but good . thank you
Problem while installing Visual Basic 6 can anyone help? while installing visual basic 6 i am getting this error msg again and again "Set up was unable to create a DCOM user account in order to register `C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools\VS-Ent98\V... " after this msg its showing unable to install pls reinstall again. even after repeated attempts i am unable to install this software please help me the way out to install it and remove the bug.
Need BASIC banking software - what is best? I need to enter data from our school PTO account for the time period of 6/1/08 through current. I can use Quicken On-Line and tie to our bank account that won't work because it will only get the last 90 days of data. What I really want is something like the OLD Quicken 98. I need to put in my starting balance, enter each check/deposit and categorize it and calculate the results for the year. Can anyone offer any advice on how I can do this? Since we are a non-profit I would prefer something that ts a free download or as cheap as possible! Thanks for your help!
