Can people with knowledge in Accounting Softwares replace CPAs?

Can ordinary people with extensive knowledge in the Accounting Softwares (e.g. QuickBooks Pro and MYOB) available in the market replace the Certified Public Accountants in their normal day to day accounting (e.g. Bookkeeping) jobs? Please help me find an answer, this is for my Theses. Thank You very much!

1. They can replace bookkeepers, but not accountants. That's like suggesting that a bricklayer can replace an architect.
2. That would be a neat trick. But once all the CPAs find new lines of work, who would consult with the accounting software developers to update the rules next year? You can't make or maintain an expert system without a professional expert to design it, evaluate it, and correct any errors that are spotted.
